Initiatives

Concern for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at Loyola permeates Loyola’s colleges, departments, and offices.

The Office of Equity and Inclusion has led the following university-wide efforts to promote a culture of greater inclusion and equity at Loyola:

Loyola has committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core strategic priority in university planning. The Strategic Planning Subcommittee of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee has undertaken the development of a three-year Strategic Plan for Inclusive Excellence in conversations with Transforming Loyola 2020, Loyola's mission and values, our 2017 campus climate assessment, and our 2018 strategic visioning process.

The plan identifies three strategic priorities:

  • Expand curricular and co-curricular courses and programs addressing diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

  • Increase recruitment and retention of faculty and professional staff from groups underrepresented in higher education.

  • Strengthen advocacy and support systems, resources, and protocols to promote equitable thriving for all students, staff, faculty, alumni, and visitors.
