Ignatian Life Communities

What is an ILC?

Each Ignatian Life Community (ILC) groups usually have between 6 to 10 members and meet regularly, usually weekly, to pray, reflect, and discuss issues of life and faith. Based in Ignatian spirituality, ILCs help members find God in all things and discover their calling in life. Participants do no have to be Catholic Christian or any other denomination of Christian to be in an ILC, all are welcome.

What is a meeting like?

Each meeting involves opening and closing prayers, sharing on how you have encountered God in your week, and a prayer experience and discussion. Prayer experiences usually center on an aspect of Ignatian spirituality and can include meditation, art, scripture, journaling, and more.

ILC Affinity Groups:

This year we will be offering the following affinity groups in addition to our general ILCs: athletes (co-ed), CVX - a group for Spanish speakers, LGBTQ+, and a secular spiritual exploration group. These groups will cover the same material as the general groups, but with people of similar affinity.

ILC Classroom Cohorts:

These class-based ILC's form from students who are taking the same course at the same time, meeting weekly outside of class to dive more deeply into your shared learning both in the class and with and about each other. Sign up during your first week of class to join an ILC classroom cohort. If you are a faculty member who would like to promote the formation of an ILC affinity group from one of your classes, please contact Hunter Darrouzet at hrdarrou@loyno.edu.

ILC Themed Living Community:

Themed Living Communities (TLCs) are "packs" of students intentionally brought together around a common purpose in order to form a deeper understanding of values, discover their passions, and become more invested in the campus community. The Ignatian Themed Living Community (ITLC) is specifically designed to engage students in meaningful exploration of the Ignatian way of life, grounded in communal exploration of spirituality, identity, and service. Students will participate in weekly small community meetings and monthly community-wide events. To learn more about these communities, how and when to apply by, or any other questions - please visit THIS LINK.

Registration for the Fall 2024 ITLC has passed. Please consider joining one for 2025-2026 - incoming and current students are welcome to apply.
