Alder Hotel Uptown

We are pleased to announce Loyola’s new partnership with the ​Alder Hotel Uptown​ to provide additional student housing available to upperclass students for the fall 2020 semester.

The Alder is located in Uptown New Orleans, just one mile from campus. Students placed in the Alder will move in August 18, 20, & 22 and move out November 25, s​imilar to the time frame when housing on the main campus will be open and close​. For spring 2021, students who would like to do so, will move back to the main campus as we plan to return to full density. More information regarding this process will be provided at a later date.

About the Property

Located in the heart of Uptown New Orleans, the Alder Hotel offers lovely new hotel accommodations and related services. Conveniently located next to the Ochsner Baptist Medical campus and just steps away from the Freret Street corridor, the Alder is an ideal location for campus-adjacent housing. The hotel was completely renovated in 2017.

Room types​ include spacious single (king bed) and double (queen beds) occupancy studios with kitchenettes, natural lighting and wifi.

Other Amenities

Adjoining parking, courtyard and swimming pool, in-room safes, refrigerators and microwaves, coffee/tea maker, study room and business center. 24-hour coin-operated laundry is available. Residents will also be permitted to use campus laundry machines at no cost and a laundry conscience service will be available at an additional cost. Additionally, hotel housekeeping service will clean each room once per week.

Transportation

Shuttle transportation will be provided to residents of the Alder between main campus and the hotel daily. Schedules are being finalized and will be built in alignment with day and evening class times. Bike racks are available on site and Loyola’s campus is within one mile for those who wish to walk or ride.

Parking

Parking is available in an adjoining parking lot to the hotel. Parking is included in the cost of a Loyola resident student parking permit purchased through ​Loyola’s Parking Services​.

Security

The Alder Hotel is monitored 24-hours by security and front desk staff. Additionally, Loyola’s campus police will monitor the property and surrounding areas and provide assistance to students.

Food and Dining

Students living in the Alder will be required to maintain the on-campus meal plan as determined by their class year. Shuttles will bring students to campus during meal periods and grab-and-go options will be provided in the hotel lobby. Students will still hav

Staff and Engagement

The hotel will be managed by hotel staff 24/7. Students will have a Resident Assistant employed by Residential Life available for general support and community building. A Community Director will not live in the building, but will be assigned to you for administrative and community support, just like on main campus.

Assignments and Availability

Space is limited and if demand exceeds capacity, we will place students in the Alder based on a lottery system. Assignments will be completed on June 16, 2020.

While some of you may be disappointed not to be living on campus, we hope you will enjoy this beautiful, safe and convenient housing option at similar prices to those of on-campus housing.

Fall 2020 Move-In Week for the Alder will be August 18, 20 and 22.  Please sign up for your move in time using the link in your assignment email.  If you have signed up for housing and have not received your assignment email yet, please email reslife@loyno.edu or text us at 504-384-7711. 

  • You will be able to select a 2 hour time slot for move-in. 
  • Please plan to only arrive within 15 minutes of your check in time.  If you arrive early, you will be asked to wait for your designated check in time.
  • Details about the day of check in procedures will be shared in an email by July 15. 
     

Your Housing Check-In Form will be available in Residence beginning July 15.  After you have signed up for housing, your next step will be to complete the Check-In Form.  This will be required for all residents to complete prior to move-in week. 

The Check-In Form will ask for your emergency contact and evacuation plan.  
Please complete prior to your move-in date to ensure a smooth check in.

Each room comes with standar hotel ammenities as listed below. Due to hotel and university policies, students will not be able to bring addtional large furnitire or attach anything to walls:
