Staff Picks

One thing is for sure when you join us for Family Weekend: You are going to eat well! While we provide several catered meals throughout the weekend, you will also have time to explore the city, see the sights, and take your student (and their friends) out to eat at some of New Orleans' renowned restaurants. In case you are having a hard time deciding where to eat, here are some picks from the Student Affairs staff to get you started:

Vincent's Italian Cuisine
7839 St. Charles Ave.
(504) 866-9313

This is real authentic Italian food! If you love pasta, this is the place. My favorite is the lasagna. The atmosphere and service are excellent!

Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs

Cafe Degas
3127 Esplanade Ave.
(504) 985-5635

Like being in a small town in France! The best moules and pomme frites in town. Very affordable for a family, and superb Saturday/Sunday brunch. Reservations a must on Sundays.

Roberta Kaskel
Vice President of Enrollment Management

Clancy's Restaurant
6100 Annunciation St.
(504) 895-1111

Clancy's is one of my favorite restaurants because of its authentic New Orleans charm and outstanding menu. The homemade peppermint ice cream with hot fudge sauce is to die for!

Dr. Alicia Bourque
Director, Counseling and Health Services

Dante's Kitchen
736 Dante St.
(504) 861-3121

Uptown dining at its best! Dante's Kitchen is tucked away just off Carrollton in Riverbend. There is something for everyone on the menu, and not a single thing I wouldn't recommend!
