Check-in process

When you arrive on campus, you and your student should go directly to the Danna Student Center and our Residential Life staff will greet you and guide you through the check-in process. Be sure your student has submitted their immunization paper work to Student Health. If they have not done so already, they may do so once they arrive to campus (directly to Student Health located in the lower level of the Danna Student Center). Your student will not receive their keys until all outstanding paperwork has been submitted to the appropriate office. They can check their LORA account for more information.  Once your student receives their key(s), they may proceed to their building and floor and their RA will be there to meet and welcome them!

Parents, you can start unloading items and take them up to the room. A staff member will open the door for you so you can start placing items in the room.

Parking, Unloading, and Parking Garages

·         If you are moving into Biever hall, you will park in the West Road Garage and enter from St. Charles Ave.

·         If you are moving into Buddig or Carrolton, you will park in the Freret Street Garage and enter from Freret St.

·         If you are moving into Cabra, you will park in the lot around Cabra, directly off Pine Street.

Unloading Only Rule: For move-in day, you will only be able to park on the first floor of the garage for 30 minutes before you will have to move your car to a permanent parked location on the upper floors of the assigned parking garage.

Dollies/Moving Help/Equipment

Residential life will have dollies to check-out for move-in. However, these get are checked out very quickly and there can be a wait. Please consider bringing in your own moving equipment to expedite your move-in process. Additionally we will have student move-in volunteers call "Krewe du Move" available to help you with the move in process. They will assist with directing you to your appropriate building, operating elevators, holding doors and helping your get your items to your room if you should need additional assistance! Look for yellow shirts OR name tags which read "HERE TO HELP".

Dress for the day

New Orleans is VERY hot and can be rainy during the month of August. Please dress cool and comfortable. Stay hydrated and remain patient. Our goal is to work as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Water stations will be available, but we always recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle.
