Wolfpack Welcome Schedule of Events!

Wolfpack Welcome is a five-day program in which first-year students participate in many of Loyola traditions, including New Student Convocation, Class of 2016 Photo, Into the Streets, StrengthsQuest Conference, and much more! This program integrates academic and social programming to maximize your successful transition into our community.

Wolfpack Welcome will begin on Wednesday, August 22 and run through Sunday, August 26, 2012.

Tentative Schedule

Wednesday August 22, 2012

8:00am-4:00pm Check-In
Concrete Patio located outside of St. Charles Room, Danna Student Center
Stop by to check-in to Wolfpack Welcome and receive all the information you need to have a fun and exciting first week at Loyola University! Student IDs will also be available for pick up.

10:00am-3:00pm Resource Fair
St. Charles Room, Danna Student Center
Do you have a question you need to ask an academic department? Want to know more about local stores and restaurants in the New Orleans area? If so come check out the resource fair for lots of information and some giveaways.

4:00pm-6:00pm Dinner
Students can begin to use their meal plan in the Orleans Room at this time. You can also use this opportunity to explore New Orleans by grabbing some dinner at one of the many restaurants and eateries in the area.

6:00-7:30pm Residential Life Floor Meetings
Buddig and Biever Halls
Mandatory meeting on your floor to meet your new neighbors and Resident Assistant.

6:00-7:30pm Commuter Student Reception
Audubon Room, Danna Student Center
Commuting to campus this fall? Come to the Commuter Student Reception where you can meet other commuters and hear about some of the programs and services at Loyola that are only for commuter students. Light refreshments will be served.

7:45-9:30pm Wolfpack Welcome Kick-Off & Keynote Speaker
Roussel Hall
Are you ready to be Part of the Pack? Join the Krewe Leaders, Resident Assistants, and your Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. M.L. “Cissy” Petty at the kick-off event of the year! By the end of this session, you will be motivated to Lead the Pack and live your life at performance potential.

Check-in at Danna Student Center, Sites Across City
As a new member of the New Orleans community, you will have the opportunity to explore your city through a variety of excursions.

6:00-9:00pm Into the Streets Dinner

After a rewarding day of exploring the city, come back to campus for a relaxing dinner.

Discover, Develop, and Apply your individual talents to your Loyola experience. 

1:00-3:00pm Work Study Fair

Are you an incoming work-study? Attend this fair to learn about employment opportunities on-campus and meet supervisors from each area.

3:00-6:00pm New Student Convocation, Class Photo, Second Line, & Jazz Dinner
Holy Name of Jesus Church, Marquette Horseshoe, Orleans Dining Room
This ceremony is the official welcome to all new students at Loyola University New Orleans. Join the President, Rev. Kevin Wildes, S.J., Ph.D., as he officially inducts your class into the Loyola University Wolfpack. Immediately following New Student Convocation, be part of the official 2016 Class Photo and take part in a traditional New Orleans Second Line.

9:00am-12:00pm Multicultural Conference
Audubon Room, Danna Student Center
Take part in a half-day conference focused on issues of social justice and diversity. This interactive experience will allow you to explore these issues and commit to creating positive change in your new Loyola community.

12:00-3:00pm Part of the Pack
Various Locations
Get to know your campus in a number of different ways. Learn more about what the library has to offer, take a guided tour to walk your class schedule so that you are prepared on the first day of class, or play a game or two in the ResQuad with member of the Athletics and Wellness Staff.

4:00-8:00pm Wolfpack Target Run
Esplande Mall
Do you still need stuff to make your new room your home? Have no fear; Residential Life has a great opportunity for you! Board shuttles to Target inside the Esplanade Mall at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm. Shuttles return to campus at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm. Shop, eat, and enjoy over 100 stores in one location!

Sunday August 26, 2012

10:00am-1:00pm New Orleans Museum of Art
Buses depart behind Carrollton Residence Hall
Enjoy the museum, lunch, and a day at the park. Get out and learn a little more about New Orleans culture as you explore NOMA and City Park. Spaces will be available on a first come basis. Please arrive no later than 9:45am to board buses.

4:00-5:30pm Residential Life Floor Meetings

9:00-10:00pm Welcome Mass
Ignatius Chapel
Attend the first student mass of the year. Join the Loyola community in faith and fellowship. Holy Name of Jesus Church will also offer 8:00am, 10:30am, and 6:00pm mass.
