Psychological Testing

ADHD Evaluation Process

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a complex diagnosis that requires an intensive assessment procedure.  It is important that you understand a few things before deciding to schedule an initial testing appointment with us.

POINT #1:  We use a three-step process that can take up to eight weeks to complete.

  • Step 1:  We start with a 45-50 minute initial testing appointment to review your history and concerns.  The purpose of this is to help determine whether a more comprehensive assessment of ADHD and/or other disorders is indicated.  No diagnosis will be rendered at the initial testing appointment; however, it could be determined at that time that no further testing appointments are warranted due to lack of evidence for an ADHD diagnosis.
  • Step 2: If and only if the initial testing appointment suggests that a comprehensive assessment is indicated, then you will schedule additional testing appointments that are typically scheduled two weeks apart and last approximately 45-50 minutes.
  • Step 3:  A 45-50 minute testing feedback appointment is conducted to provide the results of the ADHD evaluation.  During this appointment, you will receive a report with findings, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations. While a diagnosis is not guaranteed, recommendations are always provided.

POINT #2: All testing appointments are free of charge and are available to currently enrolled Loyola students.

POINT #3:  Our ADHD evaluations function for the purpose of diagnosis, recommendations and referral as needed.  The UCC does not provide testing for learning disabilities; however, the UCC can provider referral information to outside providers for those services.  Calling the UCC as early as possible in the semester to begin an ADHD evaluation is encouraged.
