BEGGARS

The Beggars Fraternity was founded at Loyola University New Orleans in 1923, when a Jesuit traveled to Rome to secure the Pope's permission to form a social fraternity, the first at any Jesuit university. The Beggars Fraternity is responsible for the creation of the Loyola Student Government Association and The Maroon newspaper among other organizations.
