 Frequently Asked Questions about Awakening:

What do you do on Awakening? Awakening is a time to get away and reflect on some of the bigger life questions. The weekend includes talks given by students, small group discussions, and time to connect deeply with new friends and eat some great homecooked food.

How Catholic is the retreat? Can I go if I'm not Catholic? While the retreat comes from a Jesuit, Catholic perspective and uses God language, you absolutely do not need to be Catholic to attend. Our community is made up of students from a wide variety of faith and non-faith backgrounds. All we ask is that when you hear the word God, you make your own connections to what you believe (God, The Universe, a general sense of spirituality, etc.).

Will there be Mass? We do have Mass during the retreat, and while we do ask that everyone attends, you can choose to participate at whatever level you feel comfortable, including not participating at all and simply observing.

Will I be camping? The retreat is at a group camp in Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, LA. Our facility has AC/Heat and hot showers. If you like the outdoors, there's time to explore some of the park and enjoy nature. But that only has to be a part of the epxerience if you want it to be.

How much does it cost? The registration fee is $40 and covers all your food and lodging for the weekend. Please know, though, that fee waivers are available to anyone who needs them. Conntact Connor Burke at cjburke@my.loyno.edu to arrange a fee waiver.
