In 2007, Giorlando took over the position of Director of Athletics and Wellness when Recreation and Intramurals and Athletics merged. While at LSU, Giorlando was part of two NIT teams and one NCAA tournament team. During his time at Loyola, he has been twice named GCAC Athletic Director of the Year (2006 and 2009), and was named the 2009 Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Coach of the Year. Under Giorlando’s watch, the athletic teams continue having success in the class room as approximately 68% of the student athletes have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher since 2004. The 2008-2009 men’s basketball team enjoyed its most successful season in over 60 years as they went 19-10, 12-6. Loyola currently has 12 intercollegiate athletic programs and has a vision to add six more programs by 2016. Through out his career, Giorlando has presented motivational talks and basketball clinics through out the community.
